Visiting South Africa

by admin,  Mar 13 2013 13:10 PM

Sometimes it is nice just to take a break and come spend your leisure time in South Africa. There are certain countries like the Euro zone, the US and certain other countries that don’t need to apply for a visit visa prior their stay in South Africa. It is your duty to ensure that you don’t need a visa prior your stay.

It is possible for border officials to show you your way back to your home country if you do not comply to these rules. With a visit visa, no matter where it gets issued to you, you have to supply officials with evidence that you will return to your home country.

Normally when you receive your visa in your passport, they grant you 90 days i.e three months. It is possible for officials to sometimes grant you a shorter period in South Africa and/ or set rules for your stay in South Africa. For instance that you are not allowed to extend or apply for a certain visa or so forth. We cannot guarantee you what set of limitations they will give you, we can only warn you.

People applying prior to their visit in South Africa mostly get three months but there are also some exclusions. Anytime between 30 days and 90 days can be granted to you. There is a government fee of R425 payable when issuing the visit visa. When you’re in South Africa and you apply for one it can take around 30 days, you are allowed one extension and you can also renew this visit visa. When you’re outside of South Africa the processing time takes around 10 days. Also remember with a visit visa you are not allowed to work.

Most African countries need to apply prior their visit to South Africa for a visa, there are few African countries that you don’t have to apply prior your visit, like, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique and Lesotho.
