Bring your Wife or Husband to South Africa

by admin,  Mar 13 2013 13:07 PM

Love has no borders and if you’re working in South Africa for a limited time or even if you’re a citizen, you have the right to bring your wife or husband to South Africa if they’re not citizens. The way to go about this is a spousal visa for your loved one.

The first and utmost important requirement for a spousal visa is a marriage certificate. That is also the biggest difference between the spousal and life partner. To process a spousal visa it takes around 30 days and no government fee is charged, just like the life partner. You can then hold on to this visa for about two to three years and you do have the option to extend!

There is a way to avoid the spousal visa and directly apply for permanent residence. If you are married to the same spouse for five years or longer the spouse has the right to immediately apply for permanent residence.

If you directly apply for permanent residence and you submit it in South Africa, you will need to be on a temporary visa while the PR gets processed. So it means that you will probably have to apply for a spousal visa for time being.

You are allowed to be in the country with a submission receipt for a temporary visa. We can easily help anyone to apply for both here at New World Immigration. Just remember while you can sit back and relax when we do your spousal application but with a permanent residence application you have to be there as well. Permanent residence has a different application process but we will still be there for you every step of the way.
